Gandhinagar: A Green and Smart City
Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat, a state in western India, and one of the few planned cities in the country. It was established in 1960 after the formation of Gujarat from the old Mumbai State, and named after Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. The city is known for its greenery, broad avenues, and cultural heritage, and hosts the magnificent Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, a marvel of architecture and spirituality.Gandhinagar also has the Indroda Nature Park, which is considered the second largest hatchery of dinosaur eggs in the world, and houses a variety of flora and fauna. The city is the administrative centre of the state, and has the District Collectorate, which provides various e-governance services to the citizens through Jan Seva Kendra. Gandhinagar is also a hub of education, research, and innovation, and has several prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology, the National Institute of Design, and the Gujarat National Law University.
